The Archetype Gallery, also known as the A Gallery is an artist owned and operated art gallery initiative. Formerly situated in a 250sqm warehouse space in Sydney's CBD, the A Gallery was a contemporary space with underground street flare, in it's non-pretentious approach, encouraging innovation and artist run-shows, performance art, life drawing and art workshops. In 2010, The Archetype Gallery now promotes the exhibition of art works in unconventional spaces, for the enjoyment of the general public. We think outside the square, or in this case outside the gallery, when it comes to exhibiting space for artists. The Archetype Gallery have collaborated with venues around Sydney, in order to facilitate "pop-up" style gallery space for artists. The Archetype Gallery 'Concept Spaces' are designed to create more opportunities for the community, to view the many talents of contemporary art; paintings, photography, multimedia, sculpture, performance art and fashion.

The signature of The Archeytpe Gallery Concept Spaces, is our unique presentation of the artworks and our patented 'Archetype Salon Framing System'. It is adaptable to any kind of venue and presents quality art in everyday places. Local and international artists works, will be on exhibit. For information on exhibition dates subscribe to our mailing list for access to the A.G newsletter or join our Facebook page, 'ArchetypeGallery Sydney'. To purchase art work, please contact the gallery.

The Directors

In 2006, Rachel Jordan, a Sydney–born performing artist, established and opened the Hi Rise Centre for the Arts. In it’s humble beginnings, the centre captured Rachel’s vision for a multi-disciplinary arts space in Australia. This was the first space of it’s kind in the country, a space providing a unique creative environment which was sorely needed, for an inner city community. The centre comprised of both Australian, as well as international teachers, artists, students and volunteers. From a non-institutional, intuitive and alternative perspective while facilitating many art forms, it was only natural for the Hi Rise to add an art gallery. Together with artist, writer and photographer Stefan von Reiche, a Samoan born artist, The Archetype Galley was founded.

As a testament to the work of both Rachel Jordan and Stefan von Reiche, they have been called creative “mavericks” by their colleagues, crediting them for inspiring other artists and creative spaces in Sydney. Adding to their visionary and innovative contribution to the Sydney and indeed Australian, contemporary cultural scene, their love for the arts is infectious! Creative consultants to a diverse range of small businesses, corporate and community, creative projects the duo have several collaborative and independent projects in the works in addition to their favourite initiative, The Archetype Gallery.
