Among the many characters that you may find in the roman night, there's a group who certainly passes unnoticed. During the day, in many corners, you can easily buy some flowers from a small shack. If you wish to do so, in Rome, you can buy them all night long as well. That's because these small shops are open 24/7 365 days.
I questioned why such an intensive schedule? The flower workers just lift their shoulders and tell you “do you see any space for the flowers inside here? No, so that's why we must always stay open” And that is exactly what these workers coming mainly from Egypt or Bangladesh are doing 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week for 900 euros a month (when they're lucky) - It seemed to me that a little light on their situation was due. Most of the people who live in the city, if asked, don't even know if the flower shops are open or not at night.

Their stories are important testimonies of new urban inhabitants trying to fit in and working hard. I wanted to bring them to the audience through a portrait and a detail of the place where they spend most of their life (the rest of the hours they usually sleep at home). The result is a social document that tells one by one the faces of a category of nice gentlemen, frequently well-educated, who simply and silently exist only at night.
