Lewis S.
"My lodgings were down a lane behind St Mark's square. In the wee hours, I got
up, and took my equipment down to the square. It was the time of the December
floods, so the walkway tables were all about, a useful surface on which to work.
A few Indian cleaners shuffled past in the chilly air. Some young policemen came to watch me,
no doubt to guard the sacred traditions of Italian art. As the work neared completion, two
tipsy traveller’s stumbled into view."
Lewis is a painter and sculptor from Sydney and has exhibited at State and Regional galleries
