Maria Pala Hoyos
I am Maria Paula Hoyos, my friends always call me Pala, I was born in 1976 in Colombia, where I worked designing and producing Jewelry and accessories. I came to Sydney 3 years ago, since then I have been on a quest to find in art and illustrations a medium to express my very own view of the reality.
My images are born every day of my life. Each image is a key, and is unique. The images are instants that stay drawn on paper; moments that pass and only the drawing remains. It’s a game of information that gathers little by little. The information comes from everywhere and blends with my interpretation of the world.
Through illustration I try to transmit my points, my simple visions of life, the things around us, whose enchantment sometimes remains hidden from us. When they are painted they gain character and I discover that each object has sentiment and feeling, or maybe they're my feelings. When I approach a sketch, I want to give it life and character through texture and bi-dimensional space. My theme is the everyday, images that accompany me, and information that comes from I don’t know where. My intention is to communicate, to communicate with you.
