URBAN PORTRAITS | FREE Art on the Street 'RECYCLE IT Workshops
During winter of 2010, The Archetype team consisting of 5 volunteers went out onto the streets of Glebe on a busy Saturday and gave FREE Art workshops, titled URBAN PORTRAITS, to all passersby. Starting at 10am and finishing at 1:30pm because we ran out of art materials, the entire 5 hours was beyond our expectations, our table of art materials was at times 5 deep in a crowd of people painting or waiting to paint.People of all ages, the youngest an 18month old and the oldest a grandmother on holday from New Zealand. The works were exhibited at our Concept Space Partner, The Well Connected Cafe on Glebe Point Road two days later and all those participating were able to go and celebrate the exhibition of their very own work at the opening night.
MASKS | FREE Art on the Street 'RECYCLE IT Workshops
After the success of our Urban Portraits street workshop, we decided to repeat the workshop at Glebe because our intention was always to free people from the norm and allow them to experience their inner creative. After the first workshop, people literally begged us to return every week, because as one parcticipant stated, "I find this so liberating."
